Celtic Muse: The Irish are known for their heart-breakingly beautiful ballads, poignantly amusing story songs, rousing fighting songs, and sentimental love songs. Gillian Kelly, a consummate actress with the voice of an angel, and Claire Bigley, a pianist with the orchestra at her fingertips, celebrate the Irish by performing favorites such as “The Nightingale,” “Isle of Inisfree,” “Finnegan’s Wake,” and “The Rising of the Moon.”

Kelly performs some of her favorite songs and the result is a category-crossing combination of humor and sentiment interweaving jazz (including Nina Simone’s arrangement of “Wild is the Wind”), country ballads, comedy songs, pop tunes (including a haunting arrangement by Ms. Bigley of “Mad World” with flute and cello, and theatre songs. Known for her ability to combine wit with warmth as well as theatricality with sincerity, Gillian Kelly has become a beloved staple on Chicago’s cabaret scene.

Art isn’t easy: the music of Stephen Sondheim: Considered to be the foremost composer/lyricist of our time, Sondheim has been composing musicals for over five decades. His music challenges singers musically and emotionally and Gillian and Claire are definitely up for the challenge!
Mirrors of Myself: the music of Dorothy Fields and Amanda McBroom
Two strong women performing lyrics and music of two strong lyricists. What’s not to love??? This show includes some old favorites like “The Way you look tonight” and “the Rose” and some lesser known favorites.
